VILLENE ALDERSLADE

Villene graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1992. She developed a keen interest in the management of musculoskeletal, orthopedic, and biomechanical dysfunctions in sport. She kicked her career off when she joined an established sports physiotherapy practice.

Villene then set out to develop her career in this field.

In 1994 She participated in the first ground-breaking master’s degree in Sport at the physiotherapy department of the University of Pretoria.

Her participation in several sports (long-distance running, hobby-sailing, mountain biking, spinning, river canoeing, weight training, Pilates, netball, and later golf) assisted in establishing an understanding in pursuing possibilities to adapt physiotherapy treatment and training programs whilst enabled an athlete to train wisely. As a keen long-distance runner, she represented as an on-field-physio at sponsored races. During the first few years of her career, she traveled as an on-field physio with various sports teams.

Villene now incorporates this experience to improving general movement dysfunctions in the daily living of her patients.

Juggling time between married life, grown children, and managing physio practices, she continued her insatiable pursuit for information. Her treatment approach to manage the balance between mind, body and spirit has evolved her journey from private practice in Gauteng to the beautiful mountains of the Winelands. Villene has established private practices in Franschhoek, Pearl Valley golf estate, Val de vie estate, and Paarl.

Her interest in golf injuries was enriched by completing A master’s thesis and publishing an article. She gained a master’s degree from Stellenbosch University in 2014. The thesis was focused on the search for solutions in lumbar pain and the correlation of passive hip-rotation-ROM in young golfers.

She is the founding member and owner of this practice and endeavors to set a high standard of dedicated treatment. She continues to guide and assist in the management of treatment and sports-related injuries whilst building a team spirit.
